OK. This is Drank, the “anti-energy” drink, made with Rose hips, Melotonin, Valerian Root. It’s supposed to relax you, even make you drowsy. This is our story.
Two weeks ago: Eleanor tells me all the kids at her school are drinking Drank, some of them mixing it with Monster just to see what will happen. I am intrigued.
4:40PM, Yesterday: I’m buying coffee at the Grand River Grocery in Ada and I spot the tall, purple cans. I buy two. The cashier eyes my big coffee and asks, “You sure you know what you’re doing?”
6:48PM, Yesterday: Eleanor comes home, Drank gifted.
10:30PM, Yesterday: While watching Thumbsucker, Eleanor and I give Drank a try. My face immediately feels like playdough. I need to lie down.
10:47PM, Yesterday: I’m getting a stomach ache. The Drank is turning on me, man! Some kid tells Justin in Thumbsucker that his meds are just like cocaine. I’m with you, Justin. I’m feeling cheated, too.
11:20PM, Yesterday: I’m asleep, out cold.
1:30AM: I’m wide awake and can’t fall asleep again for the life of me. It’s as if I was able to get all my 8 hours of sleep jammed into just two hours. I try reading, though I have a feeling The House of Leaves will just lead me to nightmares.
5:30AM: I wake up to find a book on my face, my light still on. I’m inexplicably terrified. I decide I’ll have to give Drank another try.

The Brothers Bloom. Limited Edition Cast Soundtracks. After scoring Bloom, Nathan made each of the cast a unique soundtrack of their specific cues. This is the cover of Bang Bang’s (Rinko Kikuchi).
This is quite possibly the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.
Awesome.

From an e-mail I received from Orbitz today. It’s taunting me.
Oh man, this hurts!
Check out this website for more good deals to drool over. TravelZoo is awesome. And only one more day until the New Zealand deal is done … anyone? anyone?

DEALMAKER: You Brought Cupcakes To Work
What do you mean, “there are cupcakes in the break room?” How can you be so casual about this? Literally this is the high point of my week. Maybe even my month! SHIT, CUPCAKES? Are you fucking with me? What kind? A wide variety? AMAZING! Although, I bet I’ll get stuck with some crumbly little runt that no one wanted. OH- there’s enough for everyone to have TWO??? AHHHH! This almost makes the entire job worthwhile! I mean, I was about to quit. I literally had my finger on my mouse, ready to hit “send” on an email announcing my 2 weeks notice. You think I’m kidding? Listen, it doesn’t take much to make me happy, and if I can’t get a little more paid vacation, or even half a chance at a promotion, I’ll take a cupcake. It’s a little piece of perfection that fits in my hand and takes me away to a world where I am the frosting king. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go eat my weight in funfetti and laugh about it how funfetti is actually a REAL thing that exists! It’s the small victories (and the small, individually frosted cakes) that make life worth living.
Dear god this hits close to home.
Since reading this, this afternoon, I have made cupcakes myself. The cupcakes won’t come to me, I will come to them!
